Masturbation: that fun subject that almost no one (except for me and a few other crazies) wants to talk about, but almost everyone has done. When looking for the scriptural prohibition we won’t find that verse which says, “Thou Shalt Not Masturbate”. What we will find though is God’s design for sex, and that is where orgasm is to be experienced. We live in a society that prides itself in independence. Sadly, this has even transferred into our sexuality. Orgasm, by God’s design, was meant to be a shared experience. Sex was not created for the orgasm, the orgasm was created for sex. In other words, sexual fulfillment (orgasm) is about sex. I can almost hear some people saying, “duh”, so let me explain further. God created sex for intimacy, and He so desperately wanted intimacy between a husband and wife that he made the “pay off” (so to speak) the most pleasurable experience known to man. When we engage in solo-sex we are not truly experiencing what God created the orgasm for. We are experiencing a lie, and reinforcing in our minds what sex is not, not what sex is. The only positive Biblical basis for sex is between a married man and his wife. Additionally, masturbation can be highly addictive. The sex addict uses masturbation as a coping mechanism. Although certainly masturbation is often viewed as the “lesser” of evils when it comes to sexual sin, this is not where we want to stop. Let’s keep pressing until we are conformed to Christ’s image in every area of our lives. There is freedom in Christ for ALL struggling in this area. Please contact us to learn more!
